Look at the troops above  and assault rifles in the video clip below …….or have we become so used to such photos that we no longer notice or care?

Am I the only person  who believes  the Olympics are no longer relevant?

I have posted quotes from the Olympic manifesto and  news reports because I do not trust myself to write how I really feel about this posturing by countries and the mindless media quest for gold.

I ask myself and anyone else who read this to consider the question.

Does anyone really believe this?

“The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.”
The Olympic Games give us the chance to celebrate our shared humanity, and the object of the competitors should be to express this humanity by performing fairly and honestly to the best of their natural ability. The Olympic spirit can be seen in all those who compete in the Games, not just in those who win the medals. This spirit can be seen in athletes from poorer parts of the world, who have little chance to develop their skills or gain experience, but who do the best they can with limited resources, and who represent their country with pride and dignity. In the spirit of the Olympics, the most important thing is to have taken part fairly, and to have done one’s best”

Or is it about medal counts and MONEY and politics?????

“Brazil wants nothing more than to stage a successful Olympic Games… But “cleaning the streets,” as the project is euphemistically known, is not an effort to haul garbage but to sweep away homeless people and drug dealers — including the often drug-addicted children who live on the sidewalks of some of Rio’s wealthiest neighborhoods.”

What a publicity spin this is …” Strays given new lease of life as ‘ball dogs’ at Brazil Open … Sao Paulo slums have been given a new lease of life – after being trained to be ‘ball dogs’ at the Brazil Open”

“Riot police have used tear gas and rubber bullets to clear demonstrators as protests marred the arrival of the Olympic torch in Rio de Janerio”

Does anyone consider how this beautiful creature was traumatised and then shot possibly because the drugs had worn off. ?

The police chief in Rio denies there is a problem with public safety and yet

None of these things should have happened …
